PSEB is a power generating and distribution organization of Government of Punjab. It has played a key role in
the Punjab Government plans for Electrification. PSEB has ambitious growth plans and to make it happen, PSEB
is looking for talented and active young candidates with brilliant academic record to join the organization.
REMARKS: The selected candidates for the post of Sub- Station Attendant will be given 4 months training at
different Sub Stations of the Board. The arrangement of the training will be made by the Director/TTI
PSEB Patiala as per training already being given at present to the Lineman. They will be posted on
actual job after the completion of the training.
KNOWLEDGE OF PUNJABI
The candidates must have passed Punjabi atleast upto Matric Standard upto the last date of receipt of
applications (relaxable in case of November, 1984 riots affected Sikh migrant candidates to the extent of 2
years w. e. f. date of joining the post).
RELAXATION IN AGE LIMIT:
Upper age limit is relaxable as admissible under rules/ instructions of PSEB / Punjab Government. Relaxation in
age in different categories as given below:
a. SC/ST and Backward class: 5 years over & above the normal recruitment age.
b. Ex-Serviceman: To the extent of service rendered in Armed Forces of Union of India
subject to usual terms and conditions.
c. Physically Handicapped: 10 years over and above the normal recruitment age.
d. In case of the following, the upper age limit shall be 40 years subject to the condition that the
candidate is meeting other eligibility criteria for the post:
i. Widows;
ii. Women who are legally Separated from their husbands or have been divorced;
iii. Women whose husbands have been ordered by Civil or Criminal courts to pay maintenance to
them;
iv. Women who have because of their desertion, been living separately from their husbands for
more than two years.
v. Women whose husbands have re-married; and
vi. Wives of the serving military personnel and wives of those who are disabled while in Military
service.
RESERVATION OF POSTS:
The reservation of posts for reserved categories is applicable for candidates of Punjab Domicile only. The
category wise and discipline wise actual number of posts will be worked out on the basis of running roster point
as per reservation policy of Punjab Government and adopted by PSEB from time to time. Category once filled
in the Application Form will not be allowed to be changed and no benefit of other category will be admissible
later on. The reserve category candidate will be required to submit requisite certificate on the prescribed
format at the time of joining, if selected.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Eligible candidates will have to under go a written test and the offer of appointment will be made to the
successful candidates based on merit in the written test only. The minimum qualifying marks in the written test
for General Category candidates is 50% and for Reserve Category candidates is 40%.
ABOUT TEST
The information regarding the written test will be made available on our Web site www.pseb.gov.in from time to
time. The written test is tentatively scheduled to be held in the month of April, 2009 at Patiala/Chandigarh. The
exact date, time and venue of the written test and information regarding despatch of Admit Cards to the
eligible candidates, with guidelines of the test will be made available at least 15 days prior to the date of the
test.
PLACEMENT FOR ASSISTANT ENGINEER/ON TRAINING
The selected candidates shall undergo training at TTI Patiala as per PSEB instructions. The final place of posting
will be allocated after successful completion of training.
HOW TO APPLY :
Candidates satisfying the conditions of eligibility as on 6.02.2009 may submit their application in the prescribed
Format which shall be either hand-written in bold Capitals or typewritten on A4 size paper only. The candidates
are required to strictly follow the Application Format and the same may be downloaded from PSEB website
www.pseb.gov.in and fill up the same in ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY. The application should be properly signed.
DO NOT ATTACH ANY CERTIFICATE OR PHOTOCOPY OF TESTIMONIAL EXCEPT CERTIFICATE OF RESERVED
CATEGORY, IF APPLICABLE.
FEE (NON REFUNDABLE)
Assistant Engineer/On Training : Rs.400/- for General and other reserved category candidates.
Rs. 100/- for SC/ST Category candidates (for Punjab Domicile only).
Junior Engineer/Electrical & : Rs. 200/- for General and other reserved category candidates.
Sub Station Attendant Rs.50/- for SC/ST Category Candidates (for Punjab Domicile only.)
The application fee shall be paid by demand draft only (valid for six months), favouring “Accounts
Officer/Cash, PSEB, Patiala” payable at Patiala. Cheque, Postal Orders or Money Order Remittances will not be
accepted. Candidates Name, Father’s name, address, telephone number, date of birth and category should
be written on the reverse side of the Demand Draft. Candidates desirous to apply for more than one post
should submit application for each post separately accompanied by prescribed fee and necessary enclosures
for each post in separate envelop. Last Date for receipt of application form together with demand draft towards
application fees will be 6.02.2009. The candidate must indicate the post/ discipline on the Envelope for which
he/she is applying. Application Form complete in all respect, with demand draft, should be sent through
ordinary post only at the following Address:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Application on A4 size paper will be entertained only through ordinary post at Post Bag. The
applications sent through courier/speed post/registered post will not be accepted under any
circumstances since the same are not accepted at Post Bag Address by the postal authorities.
2. Candidates may keep photo copy of application and demand draft sent for future record.
3. Application will be rejected : if received without requisite fees; if received after the closing date; if not
received in prescribed format or incomplete and unsigned.
4. Candidature will be cancelled at any stage of recruitment process or after recruitment or joining if any
information provided by the candidate is found to be false or is not found in conformity with eligibility
criteria mentioned in the advertisement.
5. The Board reserves the right to modify/alter the above mode of recruitment as well as decrease/
increases the number of posts advertised without any notice.
6. The candidate must possess the prescribed qualifications (experience in case of departmental
candidates) upto the last date of receipt of applications. Candidates whose results have been
officially and publically declared till the last date of receipt of application shall only be eligible to
apply. The candidates possessing the qualifications higher than the prescribed one will be considered
only if they possess the minimum prescribed qualifications.
7. Candidates serving in any department including PSEB will be required to submit ” No Objection
Certificate” through their Heads of Departments if selected, before offer of appointment for the above
post is issued to the candidate, failing which his/her candidature is liable to be rejected.
8. No service benefit of any nature of previous service rendered in any department (other than PSEB) will
be admissible. PSEB Rules & Regulations will govern the selected candidates.
9. Candidates serving in PSEB must apply through proper channel. Application sent through proper
channel should reach to the address by the last date. However candidate may send an advance
copy alongwith requisite demand draft so as to reach before the last date.
10. Candidates already in service are required to submit an undertaking that they have informed in writing
to their Head of Office/ Department for the post the candidate is applying in PSEB. In case a
communication is received from their employer withholding permission, their application will be liable
to be rejected/ candidature will be cancelled.
11. The candidates should note that their admission to the examination will be purely provisional based on
the information given by them in the application form. This will be subject to verification of all the
eligibility conditions by the PSEB. The mere fact that a certificate of admission to the Examination has
been issued to a candidate, will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the PSEB.
12. In case of any ambiguity/ dispute or interpretation, decision of the PSEB shall be
final and binding on the candidate. Legal jurisdiction shall be subject to Local Courts at Patiala only.
